My love for creating jewelry started with teaching.
In 2000, my first job while in high school was at Michaels Arts & Crafts as an event coordinator. We were short a jewelry instructor so I offered learn the craft, fill in and start teaching basic jewelry making classes.
I fell in love and ended up teaching jewelry making for years - through high school and my college years. I've taught over 250 jewelry making classes over the last two decades and as much as the everyone loves the classes, so do I!
If you're a Girl Scout Troop looking to earn a jewelry badge, we'll go through all of the requirements so they're able to earn the badge in one evening!
Here's a list of activities we will cover:
º Learning the tools of the trade. With tools in hand from the many different pliers used to soldering tools, I share what each tool is used for with examples of how they're used.
º I also share the backstory of my business, how I got started, earning my BFA in fashion & accessory design and more about the mobile boutique. This is followed up with a Q & A session. The questions are always great!
We will make 4 pieces of jewelry:
º A custom charm bracelet
The girls love to sift through the hundreds of charms I bring to class to make they're bracelets meaningful to them.

º Earrings & Necklace Set
Using the same charms, I share how to create earrings and a necklace that they can give as a gift as a badge requirement. I even provide the earring cards and a gift bag for them!
º Stretch Bracelets or Memory Wire Bracelets inspired by other cultures
(Choose from stackable beaded bracelets OR a memory wire bracelet)
We discuss how other cultures around the world use various bead patterns that hold meaning and how each color bead represents a different empowering word. The girls will be provided with a hand out explaining what they mean so they're able to create their own pattern and design.
Making jewelry out of something recycled. This is a project that I send home with the girls to complete at another time. Using paper, they're able to create beads that can then be turned into a bracelet or necklace. Full instructions and supplies needed are included.
Duration: 2 hours
Cost: $100 flat rate plus $18 materials cost per Girl Scout.
Provided: Instruction, tools needed to complete the projects, a mat to work, earring cards for the earrings, a gift bag and all of the supplies depending on the projects chosen.

Broken into 2 classes, I love being a part of school Enrichment Programs!
Each class we will make a different project, including a jewelry box in the last class to store all of the jewelry they create!
Following a similar model to the classes I teach for earning a Girl Scout jewelers badge, I discuss the tools used, how I started my business and have a short Q & A session.

Jewelry-making birthday parties are always a hit!
The classes are perfect for ages 5 to 12 and I will tailor the class depending on the age of the girls.
Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours
Cost: $50 flat rate and $18 materials cost per student (minimum of 8)
